Hi again, I’m Cindy!
and It’s my honor to help you Have a fun and fulfilled journey raising your Complex child.
I enjoy my busy life with many roles, as wife (to the man I started dating at 18!) mom to 3 beautiful children (and a kind of/not really service dog named Coco) who all keep me dancing & laughing.
I’m also sister to 5 wonderful siblings, friend to supportive women who enrich my life, as well as the creator of Navy Anchor, a place where I get to serve others, have some fun and feel fulfilled.
I’m also a comedy loving, serial home do-it-yourselfer and Hershey’s kiss enthusiast.
As for my backstory-
I grew up in upstate New York (very different from New York City!) -moved to Boston for my master’s and ended up working and settling outside Beantown (go Bruins).
Almost 10 years into a rewarding career counseling and helping MBA students, my second child, Elise was born with multiple disabilities and complex medical needs.
We were suddenly thrust into a whole new world. I quickly became overwhelmed with doctor’s appointments, therapies, medical paperwork and just trying to understand what was happening and what to do without completely sinking.
The waters got even rougher when Elise’s compromised immune system and mounting diagnoses made it impossible for her to attend school like her peers. We had to develop a hybrid school and home based program for her.
Raising my typical child could be challenging and exhausting, but now raising a child with complex needs – it was a whole other sea to navigate. Like most of you, I felt completely lost. I was so tired and overwhelmed, I didn’t know where to begin or how to get through.
I began to read and study everything I could. I learned from and worked along side teachers, therapists, nurses, aides, doctors and most of all other moms.
After years of trial and error, research, planning, organizing and developing systems, I’ve learned some of the best ways to find your crew, balance the ship, calm the waters and fully enjoy this complex journey.
I started Navy Anchor to help other complex caregivers like you to have a path to follow, so you can feel happier, more relaxed and empowered while raising a child with complex needs.
